CODE BLANC (MTL)
ยฉ Code Blanc, 2022.
Le Ministรจre is an installation and performative work that reproduces a ministerial office serving as a space for mobilization and exchange on issues of inclusion and equity within the art milieu. CODE BLANC is inspired by political codes and languages to create its own ministry in order to question the existing power dynamics in the Quebec cultural sector.
Like a departmental establishment, the public will be invited to read the informative pamphlets, look at the promotional images, fill out a form and navigate the website. Members of the collective, who will play the role of minister, will be on site twice a week to offer consultation sessions and to fuel the debate around these issues. The goal is to build bridges between those traditionally marginalized in the art world and those in power in cultural institutions. This space is intended as a place to meet and discuss in order to advance this cause together.

CODE BLANC is a collective composed of My-Van Dam, Stanley Fรฉvrier and Maryam Izadifard, which uses cultural institutions as a tool for reflection and creation to raise issues of equity and inclusion in the visual arts. The members draw on the existing skills and resources of the milieu, including museums, galleries and artist-run centers, and call on economic, cultural and social actors to contribute their reflections on the issues of cultural diversity.
