As part of the exhibition Le Ministère, the CODE BLANC collective invited the public and those in the art community to an open discussion on issues of inclusion and equity that occurred last Saturday, October 1, 2022 for Les Journées de la Culture and on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Documentation of the event will be uploaded shortly.

Like a round table, the ministers performed by the members of the collective will give the floor to the public to discuss these issues and put forward the various existing realities. This activity invites reflection on the following questions: What are the challenges of inclusion and equity? What are the barriers that institutions face in enabling real change? Why do racialized artists, curators and cultural workers feel so uncomfortable when we talk about diversity? How can we together commit to real change for a better social balance?

CODE BLANC is a collective composed of My-Van Dam, Stanley Février and Maryam Izadifard, which uses cultural institutions as a tool for reflection and creation to raise issues of equity and inclusion in the visual arts. The members draw on the existing skills and resources of the milieu, including museums, galleries and artist-run centers, and call on economic, cultural and social actors to contribute their reflections on the issues of cultural diversity.
