Artist Talk on Saturday, May 24, 2025
Opening Reception starting at 4:30 PM, the talk will start at 5 PM

articule would like to extend it’s most cordial invitation to an Artist Talk with Diyar Mayil in conversation with curator Mojeanne Behzadi. We will be discussing Mayil’s solo exhibition: Still Air. The closing reception will start at 4:30 PM with the talk starting at 5 PM.

Mojeanne Behzadi is a curator at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal. Throughout the last years, she has worked independently and for numerous art institutions, including Artexte and the National Gallery of Canada. She notably helped develop an international speaker series called Art Speaks with founder Lillian Mauer between 2016 and 2023, and conceived Trajectories, a contemporary art podcast produced for the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in 2022. Recently, she has been working on a special edition of Les Nocturnes du MAC titled A Saturnalia, a vibrant happening that interweaves multidisciplinary performances, workshops, and DJs.

Diyar Mayil is an artist working in sculpture, installation and performance. Her work addresses issues of comfort, discomfort, adaptation and the acceptance of different bodies in public and private contexts.  She is the laureate for the Claudine and Stephen Bronfman Fellowship in Contemporary Art (2022) and the recipient of the Liz Crockford Award (2023). Her work has been supported by Canada Council for the Arts, Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec Conseil des arts de Montréal and has recently been shown at Whitney ISP, Circa Art Actuel, Centre Clark and NARS Foundation. She holds a BFA and MFA from Concordia University. Originally from Istanbul, she now lives and works in Montréal.
