Call for Projects: Summer Window Show 2022

Inspired by our last window show in our previous space in the Mile End, we reflect on the impact art can have on a neighborhood. What role do artists play in how we interpret and navigate from one neighborhood to another? Many times the work of artists, collectives, organizations or centers have created spaces for exchange, contemplation and solidarity. Spaces that allow for the creation or reunion of communities. As newly occupants in the Plaza Saint-Hubert, we reflect on the definition of neighbors and how we share space with one another. With the pandemic we’ve seen some changes in how we exchange and connect to each other. Last summer, despite unprecedented events, we found ways to gather both physically and virtually, to appreciate art and connect. We are looking for proposals that explore the impact that art can have on a neighborhood in terms of community building, solidarity, kinship and care.

articule invites artists and collectives to submit their proposals for an art project to be shown in the window while the gallery is closed for the summer (from July to August 2022). This initiative aims to garner the attention of neighbors and passersby by filling the window and/or the space in front of it. Previous experience showing work in galleries is not necessary. Once installed, the project must not require the assistance of the centre's employees for the duration of the exhibition. Video works and works needing some kind of activation or start-up are therefore not accepted. articule offers an artist fee of $1000.

Send your submissions, including your CV, 5 to 10 support images and the completed submission here, to programmation@articule.org by Sunday, June 5th, 2022 11:59 PM.

We ask all applicants to read our mandate and Basis of Unity before submitting. Please note late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted. Only selected applicants will be contacted.
