Modular Kitchen — Madison Strizic
Starting from August 2026 to Spring-Summer 2027.
The installation will be activated this Fall during our various public events and member activities.
Modular Kitchen is a compact cabinet on wheels that opens up and transforms into an unconventional—mostly functional—kitchenette. This performance-sculpture combines social design with gestures of hospitality and reciprocity, and will be installed at articule for the year—transforming and adapting to reflect the changing exhibition space.
This work takes apart familiar objects from the everyday landscape and brings them back together in absurd and playful ways, not only reimagining our relationship to their use but our relationship to each other. This project asks participants to rethink, reimagine, and relearn our relationship to space, routine, and labour through the subversion of ordinary objects and familiar spaces. Designed as a support mechanism for collective creation, collaborators must reframe the utility, function, and purpose of the everyday in relation to the (art)work as well as to one another. The work invites people to communicate with one another and work together, reimagining new ways of rel and creating space for chance encounters, novel conversations, and unexpected connections.
In this iteration, Modular Kitchen will be activated through food-based interventions developed in collaboration with the other artists and their work in the exhibition space. Over the course of the year, participants, guests, and visitors will be invited to help cook, pull up a chair and chat, or simply grab a cup of tea and enjoy the on-going exhibitions.

Madison Strizic (b.1996) is an artist, researcher, and baker whose work offers participatory and experimental methods of coming together and (be)coming a/part (of) through conversation, cooking, and play. They are a grateful, uninvited guest born on the traditional lands of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Wendat, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (Toronto). Currently based in Tiohtià:ke (Montréal), they graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fibres and Material Practices from Concordia University in 2024.
Drawing from a decade of experience in the hospitality and restaurant industry, their practice combines food traditions with unconventional exhibition models to explore material cultures, queer(ing) spaces, and histories of debt, labour, and value. They also moonlight in catering and recipe-development, creating site-specific food interventions for art and cultural events.
Recently, their work has been presented in a number of galleries, artist-run-centres, and festivals, both at home and abroad, including Lobster Club Gallery, NY (2026); Galerie PFOAC (2025); festival artch (2025); FOFA Gallery (2025); RIPA (2024); and Centre Arprim (2024).
