Land, Liberation, Love: A Guided Reading and Poetry Workshop — Zeina Jhaish
Friday, November 13, 2026, from 6 to 8 PM.
At Brique x Brique, 5720 Saint-André St., Montréal, Québec, H2S 2K1.
In collaboration with Expozine.
This workshop aims to intricately look at poems from Palestine that reflect the last three years in Gaza, the West Bank, and Occupied Palestine for workshop attendees to reflect on the importance of Palestinian poetry as an educational and artistic tool about land, memory, and identity.
The workshop is a guided reading for workshop attendees to imagine a liberated Palestine despite hardship and occupation through art and community.
Poems and Guided Discussion Questions per poem:
Poem 1: Occupied Palestine / Mahmoud Darwish — What does land mean to you?
Poem 2: West Bank — How does community and Palestine made us understand Palestinian identity, as Palestinians or as solidarity partners? How can a generation shape the next even under occupation?
Poem 3: Gaza — How do we imagine liberation? What can we do in our daily lives?
The workshop then invites readers to write their own poems and create their own zines based on prompts that are inspired by the discussions. The prompts will be left at the table along with the materials.
People can free write or create zines alone in groups or individually.
