Giving Tuesday

The year 2020 is and will be an unforgettable year and we all know why, what a rollercoaster it was! 2020 also marked articule’s 40th anniversary and was an opportunity to reflect about our evolution during the last decade. We are proud of our achievements and excited about the future.

To conclude our 40th year of programming, we are running a fundraising campaign on Giving Tuesday.

As you may know, articule is a leader in the Montréal artist-run centre community, prioritizing emerging, experimental, and/or underrepresented artists and projects. Collaborating within and outside the arts community, we support artists and our membership by providing them with opportunities that might not otherwise be accessible  to them. We always pay artists for the work they do. Through constant self-evaluation, evolution, and the development of radical policies, our work has meaningful impacts in the community and becomes a model for other organizations.

This has been a challenging year for us all. With the support of articule members, community, staff, and funders, not only have we been able to continue our programming within the current circumstances, we’ve adapted and expanded our work to respond to community needs.

  • We donated our archives to the Concordia University Library and they will soon be available for consultation online. The donation was an occasion to revisit  our beginnings and (re)discover many memories.

  • This year members’ show Déballée/Unboxed  invited our members - past and present - to explore our 40-year archive as a source of inspiration for new works.

  • During the second pandemic lockdown, the show Supernova by artist Rah Elehopened. We were able to present this wonderful work on our website and in our window  in accordance with health and security measures.

  • We continue to present our programming to the public by presenting through our window and website, giving the community the opportunity to have access to art during these uncertain times.

  • For the HTMlles festival, we presented Aislinn Thomas’s project Three Windows, which invited viewers to practice slowness and a more receptive mode of being.

  • We are engaged in implementing ways to  make our programming more accessible by providing transcriptions and translations on our website and for our upcoming events.

In 2021, we will continue our work updating our revamped website and making our exhibitions, programming, and events accessible to our members and the public. The success of these projects will profoundly influence the ways we can support our artists, membership, and broader communities.

This fall, we are hoping to raise 2000$ to support our ongoing work. If you consider yourself a part of the articule community; if you’ve enjoyed our programming; if you believe in the work we do, please consider donating.

Click here to donate $1, $5 - or more

Any donation $20+ is tax deductible - a gift for us and a gift for you this holiday season! Only on December 1st, CanadaHelps will add $2 to every one-time donation of $20 or more, up to a maximum of $30,000 for all participating charities.

If you’re not in a financial position to donate, but want to help support articule, please spread the word about the campaign. When you donate your time, money, or resources to articule, you're investing back into yourself, your peers, your community, and the important cultural and social work that’s done here. Help us keep supporting our communitie(s) well into the future.
