As part of a series of woven elegies dedicated to the environment, Fugue V, Elegy for atmospheric turbulence and Fugue VIII, Elegy for a collapsing glacier resonate with echoes of solitude, wonder and questioning at the heart of the geo-poetic framework. The work on texture, negative space, emptiness and monochromatic shades of wool and rope celebrates the strength and resilience of these climatic turbulences.
Aliénor Dufétel is an artist studying Fibres & Material Practices at Concordia University's Fine Arts. The core of her practice is weaving. Her geo-poetic approach enables her to create a zone of confluence between the scientific and sensory worlds. Her work gives greater prominence to ecological discourse, opening the way for endangered glacial formations and giving voice to catastrophic meteorological phenomena.
