Workshop for Members

articule and the Fabolous Comittee is pleased to be collaborating with multi-disciplinary artist Kama La Mackerel on this workshop for members!

In this bilingual workshop, we will be looking at the funding structure of the different arts councils, studying their application forms, understanding their jury structure, as well as discussing the strengths and weaknesses of applications, tips & tricks regarding what to do, what to avoid etc. In short, this will be a very detailed breakdown of how to write a strong application. We will also spend the last hour of the workshop talking about your individual needs and questions. So if you have a draft of an application that you want feedback on, or a past application that you want feedback on, please bring it!

Limited number of seats and exclusive to members, reserve your place now!

Kama La Mackerel is a Mauritian-Canadian multilingual writer, visual artist, performer, educator and literary translator who believes in love, justice and self and collective empowerment. Their practice blurs the lines between traditional artistic disciplines to create hybrid aesthetic spaces from which decolonial and queer/trans vocabularies can emerge. Deeply invested in community engagement, Kama has been running popular education workshops and training on grant writing for the past few years in order to demystify both the granting bodies and the application process itself, in particular for marginalized communities. They have successfully received grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec and Canada Heritage and they are committed to sharing their years of experience with other artists.

The Fabulous Committee is a space for self-identified BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) and/or racialized and/or QTBIPOC members of articule to gather, hold space and care for each other, exchange ideas, share their practice, and see artistic works together. Fabulous Committees' activities change depending on the needs and desires of members.
