When the Mountains Move is a material based research-exhibition that studies the role of women within the indigenous Mexican Zapatistas movement as an example of resistance within the resistance.
Amanda Ruiz Méndez is a Mexican artist based in Montreal. Her work incorporates different modes of collectiveness, from art teaching to participatory performances and activism. She considers social mobilization as a fundamentally creative process where art occupies the public space while cultivating collective memory.
