This February’s General Assembly will be structured in an open talk-show format, hosted by artist Jordan Arseneault, and featuring members of the board and staff, mulled-wine hot chocolate, and possibly some free prizes under your chairs!

articule is a dynamic centre that is constantly in flux, and sometimes this leads to burning questions going unanswered, such as… Why is the articule facade green? What is going on in the basement? Who invented the signature cocktail? What are frogs? (and other more serious questions, of course). We wanted to take this opportunity to solicit and respond to questions from our membership in a convivial setting that will allow us to get to know each other and the centre a bit better. As part of the exhibition #postcolonialbooty, articule and African Rainbow/Massimadi Festival are pleased to present a discussion between artist Eduardo Velázquez (United States) and researcher Tawny Andersen (Montreal), followed by a mapping workshop facilitated by Eduardo Velázquez.

Workshop participants will be invited to trace their origins and cultural characteristics inherited from their ancestors to the community they live in today. The traveling of characteristics and/or traditions will be mapped in order to foster a better understanding of cultural change in relation to immigration and diversity in the city. Materials will be provided.

articule’s Movie Nights are a series of film screenings presented by members of the centre as a way to learn about their individual practices and to raise some funds for articule. All are welcome! As part of a screening of Holy Hell by Will Allen (2016), Jamie Ross and Tina Carlisi will share their research and recent art projects that deal with utopian visions from the mid-20th century to the present.
